What Is Beauty?

This week’s focus on aesthetics and beauty made me rethink what beauty actually means, especially in fashion. Before this, I mostly thought of beauty as something that just “looks good,” but now I see that it’s more connected to emotion and personal perspective. As a fashion merchandising major, this is really important because fashion isn’t just about function it’s about how clothing makes people feel. I also found the idea of yin and yang interesting, because it shows how form and function work together. An outfit can be practical, but if it doesn’t feel aesthetically pleasing, it won’t have the same impact. This made me reflect on my own style and how I choose pieces that not only serve a purpose but also express who I am. In my future career, understanding different perspectives of beauty will help me create displays and collections that appeal to a wide range of people.
