This week’s focus on visual ethics made me think about how often images aren’t as real as they seem, especially in fashion and social media. The idea that images can be staged or altered stood out to me because so many photos are edited to create a certain lifestyle or appearance. As someone interested in fashion merchandising, this is important because visuals are used to influence how people feel about products. While editing can make things look more appealing, it also raises questions about honesty and unrealistic expectations. I see this a lot on social media, where outfits and images are often perfected. This week made me more aware of how visuals can be misleading and how important it is to be responsible when creating them. In my future career, I want to balance making things look appealing while still being authentic and trustworthy.
