Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility – The Hope Chest

2020-07-31-2.jpg

This page highlights my volunteer experience at The Hope Chest, a non-profit upscale resale boutique that combines fashion with philanthropy. Their mission is to support women and children fleeing domestic violence by funding Pillars Community Health’s Constance Morris House through the sale of gently used women’s clothing, footwear, and accessories. My involvement reflects my commitment to ethical fashion, sustainability, and community impact.

While volunteering at The Hope Chest, I assisted with steaming garments, organizing donations, and maintaining the sales floor to ensure all items were clean and ready for resale. This experience gave me insight into sustainable retail operations and how secondhand fashion supports both the environment and women in need. It reinforced my belief that fashion can be purposeful—combining style, sustainability, and social impact.
