This week’s topic on good design versus bad design made me realize how often I experience both in my daily life, especially when shopping. As a fashion merchandising major, I pay a lot of attention to how stores and websites are set up. Good design feels effortless you can easily find what you’re looking for, and everything makes sense. That connects to the ideas of discoverability and understandability from the readings. On the other hand, bad design is frustrating, like when clothing racks are disorganized or websites are hard to navigate. It made me realize that design isn’t just about how something looks, but how it functions for the user. In my future career, I want to create store layouts and shopping experiences that are both visually appealing and easy to use, so customers don’t feel confused or overwhelmed.
